lightweight and clear, December 9, 2009 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Plantronics HW291N Monaural Noise Canceling Wideband Headset (Personal Computers) After using the Plantronics Tristar headset for a few years, it was starting to show sign of wear and tear so I decided to get this headset. It is sold here on Amazon as Apla-na, but also known as Encore Pro elsewhere. The headset is very lightweight and comfortable to wear. Sometimes I am on back-to-back calls for 3-4 hrs and don't notice the headset at all. The headset cancels background noise quite well and caller do not hear any background noise at their end. The mic boom turns in two axes, to ease adjusting it such that it conform to the contour of your face while keeping good distance from your mouth to avoid directly breathing into it.

Others may be fine but I've NEVER had an issue with Plantronics. I'm not going to change just for the sake of change when I've got a product that works perfectly. If you've ever had a problem with a headset mfg, try switching to Plntronics, I don't think you'll ever be disappointed. And you don't have to worry about shopping around for best price, Amazon Marketlace has always had the best pricing.

It the cable ends in a Quick Disconnect connection which you can match up to the correct cable for your device. I use mine with my MyTouch 4G. My friend uses his with the iPhone. Both happen to take the same QD cable: Plantronics 3.5mm QD Headset Cable for Apple iPhone, Blackberry. I had the Supra which is a very good consumer grade headset with a 2.5mm plug, but the EncorePro is a definite step up in terms of build quality, comfort, adjustability, and noise canceling. In addition, the QD feature allows you to use one headset with multiple different devices (home phone, computer, different cell phone, etc.), just by getting a new QD cable. Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't make this clear on this page and doesn't list all the possible QD connection cables.
