Outstanding desktop microphone for speech recognition, December 10, 2011 By Amin Sabet "Amin Sabet" (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Buddy DesktopMic 7G (with FilteredAudio) (Electronics) The Buddy DesktopMic 7G with Filtered Audio is a fantastic desktop microphone for voice recognition. As a practicing physician using Dragon Medical 10.1, I was looking for the convenience of a desktop microphone. I initially had an inexpensive Logitech microphone, and it was pretty much worthless. Decent for Skype but terrible accuracy for speech recognition.
After doing some research, I narrowed my choice to this model and the SpeechWare 3-in-1, both of which are highly rated. I decided on the Buddy DesktopMic 7G with Filtered Audio because it was available sooner and cost less than the SpeechWare. Also, the Buddy model with Filtered Audio (also called the "DSP" model) is specially designed to filter out machine level noise, and my office has a loud air vent fan. The DSP version also has a longer working distance than the non-DSP model.
